MLS Superdraft 2015

This morning the MLS Superdraft kicks off in Philadelphia. Shouldn’t be a big news day Expect big things for the Rave Green faithful, as the Sounders don’t have a pick until the second round (27th overall). look to trade up in the draft.

Don’t expect much wheeling and dealing from new “President of Soccer” Garth Lagerwey wants to make his mark early and continue collecting new blood. Seattle already stocked up on young talent by signing Victor Mansaray and Darwin Jones to Home Grown Player Contracts. As has been discussed, HGPs are the real blue chip, “first-rounders” of MLS. Jones, experts believed, would have been a top 5 draft pick if he he was eligible.

I don’t know what to expect from Seattle today, as I am by no means a NCAA soccer scouting expert. Few of these players will make an immediate impact (rarely have any of the Sounders’ draft picks made any impact at all). But I, like any diehard armchair GM, have my ideas on the Sounders needs.

Raving Green’s Draft Wishlist:
1. Winger
2. Centerback
3. Winger
4. Winger

Enjoy live-streaming the draft  while sitting in your cube. You think they could find a way to make this any more of a non-event?
